Museum Engadin St. Moritz
Exhibition: Splendur e sumbriva – light and shadow in the Engadin
Description
When you say Engadin, you say light. The inner alpine valley between Maloja and S-chanf, between Samedan and the Bernina Pass is known for its radiant, sun-drenched landscape. But where there is light, there is shadow, and contrasts emerge with even greater intensity. In a joint exhibition, 14 Upper Engadin cultural institutions develop the topic in this dynamic terrain: from art to architecture, from language to philosophy, from alpinism to everyday culture. Each house will present a different focus – from alpine light phenomena to the design of a spa resort, from literary light to the magic of light in the dark, from digital immersion to the analog keyboard of light and shadow, from the sun and the window to the natural and artificial light of the night. The joint exhibition is an invitation to visit our museums, ateliers and archives.
