Description
History
First - only indirect - documentary news of a church in Truns we receive already 765. On October 13, 1272, a new consecration with the Patrozinium St. Martin took place. The (Romanesque) main part of the existing tower apparently comes from this new building. It also seems to be the church built in 1272 that is described in the visitation protocol of 31 August 1643. On August 1, 1423, the marian altar was consecrated. Consecration of the new building in honor of St. Martin with five altars on September 3, 1662.
specifications
Uniformly baroque south-facing complex consisting of a three-bay nave and the retracted, three-sided closed choir, both covered with transverse cross vaults. The exposure takes place under the cornice, through high stitch arch windows, above by Oculi. In the gable is the date 1660.The
tower stands on the west side of the nave close to the choir entrance. The Romanesque part reaches up to half the height of the nave roof and consists of carefully hewn cuboids. In the Romanesque part of the tower, only small round-arched closed windows open. The upper floor with the eyelashes and the pointed helmet was apparently set up in the Gothic period, perhaps 1459-1460, but at least not only occasionally of the reconstruction of the church around 1660. In the corner between the tower and the choir stands the sacristy with a vaulted ossuary.
Stukkatur and. Murals
The decorative elements here are not - as in most of our baroque facilities - concentrated on the choir, but on the yoke in front of it, where the four altars with the vault and wall decoration of the niches are combined to form a closed jewelry ensemble.
The altars: the wooden high altar is a magnificent work. The main floor consists of three links, the altarpiece flanked by two pairs of columns and two side parts with reliquary niches, also bordered by columns.
In the gable breakthrough stands a sculptural group of the Marian coronation, on the side, in front of the pilasters you can see St. Catherine and Ursula, on the entablature of the counterpart St. Johann von Nepomuk and Joachim, St. Martin and Mauritius (as riders). In the overall composition, the almost life-size figures of St. John and James standing beyond the windows are also d.Ae. included.
