Description

The Lägh da Cavloc - in Italian Lago di Cavloccio - is a mountain lake near the Maloja Pass. The lake lies at 1907 m above sea level, about two kilometres south of the pass road.

Lake Cavloccio belongs to the municipality of Bergell and is about 400 m long and 300 m wide. While the northern and western shores of the mountain lake are mostly lined with fir trees, the southern part is almost comparable to a beach, inviting you to linger at various points for a barbecue (firewood available).

It is also worth taking a dip in the refreshing water. If you are looking for culinary delights at high altitude, you can get fresh goat cheese for a picnic directly on Alp Cavloc or stop to enjoy regional specialities in the restaurant Cavloc.

The walk to the lake is easy and accessible with a buggy. The lake can be reached on foot from Maloja in about an hour.

The lake is the starting point of the trail through Val Forno to the SAC Forno hut.
