Ausstellung im Bergbaumuseum Innerferrera
The mining museum imparts impressions from the days when the mines were in operation. Information is given about ore mining, transportation and former iron, copper, lead and silver smelting and about the smelting plants.

Description

In the Schamsertal valley, in the areas of Ferrera, Schams and the Vorderer Rheinwald, there are deposits of raw materials that have helped the valley communities to achieve a certain degree of prosperity for centuries. The first documented mention of ore mining dates back to 1605, but it can be assumed that people were already utilising the ore deposits much earlier.

The Hinterrhein Ore Mines Association has been in existence since 13 December 2009 and has set itself the goal of preserving the existing and presumed historical evidence of ore mining, making it accessible to the interested public and coordinating the research, preservation and maintenance of the historical facilities.
