Obersaxen. Insel im romanischen Meer

In the extensive municipality of Obersaxen at the foot of the 2064-meter-high Piz Mundaun, the "Bündner Rigi", Upper Saxony is spoken in the otherwise Rhaeto-Romance language area. The inhabited terrace, located between 1000 m (Axenstein) and 1430 m (Miraniga), extends over a length of 14 kilometers. The scattered development with 28 courtyards is typical of a Walser settlement. On 1 January 2016, the municipality merged with the municipality of Mundaun to form the municipality of Obersaxen Mundaun. The view from the high plateau is wonderful, the restaurants invite you to beer and fine Grisons specialties.
