Oratorio di Santa Maria Immacolata

Oratorio di Santa Maria Immacolata
The Oratory of Santa Maria Immacolata, built towards the end of the XVII century, stands on a natural terrace in the middle of a chestnut forest.

Description

The oratory, built in 1696 and restored between 1987 and 1994, is listed as a historical monument.  The architect Gabriele Bertossa oversaw a restoration that enhanced the small sacred space with great sensitivity and preserved its importance as a place of worship and meditation. The floor has been covered with poplar wood, the main portal and windows have been restored, the baroque decorations have been extensively renewed, and the painting of the Immaculate Madonna above the altar has also been repaired. The artist Reto Rigassi has created a unique and refined magic: two lights (red and blue) move and meet on the chest to illuminate the Immaculata. This spectacle can only be seen once a year, on December 8, during the feast of Mary Immaculate, at exactly 10:57 a.m. Since 1993, more and more believers have been gathering to experience this "miracle of light".
