The English painter William Turner has captured the Viamala Gorge on ravishingly beautiful, sketchy works. The German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche even wandered for hours through the Rheinwald region, and whenever he looked around, he immediately saw "something great and unexpected".

If you want to write down or sketch your own thoughts and feelings about the Rheinwald region, the water or life, you can now do so on the Rheinquellweg between Hinterrhein and Nufenen. Perhaps the words and pictures on the slate will be preserved for subsequent hikers, perhaps they will also be intended for the rain. It's nice either way...
