POI 07: Bronze Age settlement

Description

On the Mutta (or Muota = pre-Roman hill) a part of a settlement from the Bronze Age was excavated from 1935 to 1943. The most important find was a bronze disc needle 83 cm long and dated to around 1600 BC. It may have served as a calendar with which to calculate the synodic orbital period of the planet Venus of 584/585 days. The original of this worldwide unique find is exhibited in the Rhaetian Museum in Chur.
