Church Viamala
Reformierte Kirche Sufers
The Reformed Church in Sufers in the Rheinwald is a Protestant Reformed church that is a listed building in the canton of Graubünden.
Description
The origin of the church building dates back to the year 841, when it was built by a donation from Lothar I. The church is dedicated to the patronage of Jesus as Saviour (Latin: Salvator). The current building was erected as a new building during the early days of the Graubünden turmoil (1618–1625) and has a tower whose striking width compared to the nave and its tapered onion dome characterise the townscape. Inside, behind a two-step staircase to the choir, there is a stone baptismal font, which is used both as a baptismal font and as a communion table according to the Reformed denomination.
