However, since about 10 million.m³ of wood grow back every year in Switzerland, the harvest of a further 2 to 3 million.m³ would be desirable for sustainable forest management. About 3,500 m³ of wood, mainly spruce, larch and Swiss stone pine, are harvested annually from the forest in the Ferrera / Avers forestry district. 400 m³ of this is processed in the municipality's own sawmill with various machines. Among them are a block band saw, a double trimmer, a hydraulic lifting crane and a radio-controlled clamping wagon, with which a tree trunk can be brought into the optimal position for sawing at the push of a button.
