The Safier local history museum is a living part of the cultural landscape in the hamlet of Camanaboda and the valley as a whole. It offers a good insight into the life and work of our ancestors.

Description

In Camana-Boda, one of the highest, year-round inhabited settlements in the Safien Valley at almost 1,800 meters above sea level, surrounded by other old Walser houses, lies the local history museum, the Althus.

The focus of this museum is the house itself and its facilities as a home. Although 'ds alt Hus' is one of the smaller types of house built in Safien in the past, it contains all the rooms that were common at the time, such as the Stubä, Chuchi, Chòòltchaamerä, (milk cellar) Schiithus, Spiicher (bedroom) and Chäller.

The exhibition is complemented by a wide variety of woven and crocheted objects around a loom in working order, a depiction of Easter egg carving, music making, emigration and the cobbler's trade. The Safiental is presented in a two-part audio-visual show and the changes in the management of farms are shown.
