Septimer Pass

The Septimer Pass was once one of the most important Alpine crossings to and from Italy. The favourable topography made it an ideal trade route. Today, hikers and bikers cross the pass and enjoy the unique landscape where traders once trod. 

Come and experience for yourself the beauty and diversity of the Alpine surroundings on the Septimer. The “Via Sett” multi-day hiking trail takes you along the route followed by Roman emperors, kings and traders in five day-long hikes from Thusis to Chiavenna. If desired, the sections may also be shortened by using public transport.
