Dam in Val Nalps

Description

The Nalps reservoir forms a single water management system connected by pipes with the Lai da Sontga Maria and Lai da Curnera reservoirs, which are located in neighbouring valleys.

The dam was built in 1962, has a height of 127 metres and a crown length of 480 metres.

Until a few decades ago, the military still carried out shooting exercises in Val Nalps. Today, only the road on the left bank reminds us of how self-propelled howitzers were driven to the end of the lake.

The road to Val Nalps is subject to a driving ban. The power plants reject any liability for motorists, but there is no fine.

Hiking time from Surrein: approx. 2 hours
