Turmruine Sais in Schlans

Ruin of a tower, La Tuor on an elongated rock rib east of the village center. Massive tower of almost square floor plan. Side length approx. 8.5 m, wall thickness a good 2 m. Burchsteine and boulders layered in storage. Good corner bandage made of large boss cuboids with a particularly careful edge stroke. Three floors can be determined. High entrance in the southwest corner of the 3rd floor. Door with straight lintel. Above the door there are hook consoles for attaching a canopy. In the south wall at the height of the second floor narrow slits, otherwise no wall openings. The lack of further windows and references to other living equipment suggests with the greatest probability a wooden superstructure, which should have contained the actual living rooms. The manor of Schlan initially appears to be a property and in the 14th century became dependent on the Fiefdom of the Belmont. The Schlans were probably related, if not tribal with the Grünenfels. In both families, the names Albert and Conrad are common. The disappearance of the Schlans from the springs in the 13th century may not have been due to the extinction of the family, as Poeschel suspects, but only to a change of name. In the 14th century, the estates and rights belonging to the castles of Schlans and Grünenfels formed a single complex of power.
