Description

This is a castle site on a narrow, spur-like plateau above the road from Waltensburg to Andiast, on the edge of the Val Mulin ravine. Shallow ditch on the mountain side. In the center of the plateau, at the narrowest point, are the remains of a tower. Rectangular ground plan of approx. 9 by 8 m. The western corner is preserved up to the height of two storeys. The masonry consists of regular layers of large pebbles. There are very good corner stones without bosses, but with clean edges. The remains of a slab-lined embrasure can be seen in the north wall. On the plateau to the east of the tower there are uncertain indications of stone settings. The tower probably dates from the 13th century. There is a complete lack of evidence. It would not be inconceivable to identify the complex with the unlocated Stotzenstein castle. The topographical location on the steep slope would certainly fit.
