Ausstellungseröffnung: s’Juli – Skizzen und Gedanken von Julia Walser

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the Kulturhuus Schanfigg will open the new exhibition s’Juli – Sketches and Thoughts by Julia Walser. The exhibition will showcase drawings of birds, flowers, and people that Julia Walser – s’Juli – created in her advanced age in the 1990s in Lüen, as well as insights into some of her thoughts, original photographs from her childhood, and personal items. The sketches on display all share a commonality: they reflect a quiet observance and a keen eye for their environment. In the exhibition, Julia Walser's gift of observation is not only highlighted through her exhibited works, but the exhibition itself also becomes a space for observation: one can not only immerse in Julia Walser's art, examine her strokes, read individual lines, and observe the depicted scenes, but it is also encouraged and intended for visitors to pick up brushes and pencils themselves. Various drawing stations invite attendees to look closely, be attentive, and reproduce their observations – in line with Julia Walser's own words from a report in 1994, "When I see something beautiful, I always tell myself: you must paint that." There is plenty of beauty to see in this exhibition.
