Brail, 7527, Switzerland

Chalandamarz, a culture with strong Romansh roots, is practiced here in the Engadin. A custom as old as the settlement of the mountain valleys, a festival that is celebrated a little differently in every village.
The whole crowd of children, decorated with home-made silk flowers, parade through the village. With thunderous bell ringing and scourging whips, they want to put an end to winter. The wonderful Chalandamarz songs are intended to lure in spring.

The procession starts at 1.15 pm in Brail.
