Event Engadin St. Moritz
Chalandamarz in La Punt

Description
March 1st is Chalandamarz, the festival of driving away winter. Dressed in bright blue robes, boys and girls go from house to house singing traditional songs. Of course, the parade must also include the large cowbells, "the Plumpas", with which the children drive away the winter spirits in the best Schellenursli style. Spring can hardly begin more beautifully. Chalandamarz is opened at 4 a.m. with whip cracking and bell ringing in the village. The parade starts at 6 a.m. on the village square in Chamues-ch. During the parade, the children collect money for the Ballin (Chalandamarz ball) and sweets as snacks for the long day. The parade goes through the following districts and streets: Suot Röven / Gulas / Chüderas / Curtins / Via Cumünela / Seglias / Arvins / Alvra Sur. Chers saluds dals patruns/patrunas e chavals
