Lima, summer 1992: In the midst of social and political unrest, Elena and her daughters Lucia and Aurora prepare to move from Peru to the United States. With contradictory feelings, the three look forward to saying goodbye - to the country, family and friends. And of father and ex-husband Carlos, a charming Luftibus, who was mostly absent and now spends his last hours with his daughters. Autobiographically inspired, Klaudia Reynicke tells an emotionally dense family story. The relationship between the two sisters and the way each of them encounters the father, whom they hardly know, is a strong element in the film.
Swiss-Peruvian director Klaudia Reynicke ("Love Me Tender") has created an emotionally dense family story in this autobiographically inspired film, for which she won an award in the Generation section of the Berlinale. She calmly develops the challenges that children and parents face at a turning point in life, of fears and hopes and of the need for belonging.
