From 26 September to 19 October, the Chur Gallery CUADRO22 will be showing works by the Chur artist Joachim Dierauer and the Mexican artist María José Petersen. In the exhibition "codex natur", the two artists enter into an exchange about material, language, nature and its codification.

How do we decipher nature? How does nature speak to us? Can we believe our eyes and what is glowing in the dark? Joachim Dierauer and María José Petersen explore these and other questions about representation and perception in the exhibition "codex natur". The two artists, whose work is particularly characterized by different printing techniques, not only enter into a virtual dialogue. For "codex natur" at Galerie CUADRO22, they also create new works together.

Graubünden meets Guadalajara
Joachim Dierauer (*1971) has made a name for himself over the years in solo and group exhibitions as a reflective artist with a critical distance to the overly illusionistic. Even during his training years, he specialized in various printing techniques, including lithography. Since 2023, he has been in charge of the printing workshop Schloss Haldenstein. For "codex natur", Dierauer works with the artist María José Petersen (*1991) from Guadalajara, Mexico. Petersen is currently Artist in Residence at the CUADRO22. Her work has been exhibited collectively and individually in various states of Mexico, Spain, the Czech Republic and Serbia – and like Dierauer, she runs a printing workshop in her home country. In Chur, she is showing her project "News with Lampyridae" for the first time, which is based on communication between fireflies and Morse code.
