Monarchy, dictatorship, oligarchy, republic, theocracy, democracy. Who is allowed to express their opinion freely and who is allowed to have a say in a political system?

Plato's Politeia depicts a utopian social order led by philosophers at the top. From the experiences of Athenian democracy in the 5th/4th century BC, Plato developed the model of an ideal state in which each person is assigned a place according to his or her abilities and inclinations. The aim is to achieve justice and harmony in society. A controversial text that serves as a stimulus for democracies and autocracies alike.

Constantin Regamey was born in Kiev in 1907 to a Polish mother and a father from Vaud. He taught ancient Indian philology in Warsaw and joined the Polish resistance during World War II under an alias. After the suppression of the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, he was arrested and taken to the Stutthof concentration camp near Gdansk. Thanks to his Swiss passport, he managed to flee to Switzerland. Later he became a professor in Fribourg and Lausanne and was always active as a self-taught composer. He completed his virtuoso quintet in Warsaw in 1944.
