The internationally award-winning soprano Gudrun Sidonie Otto and the Basel Cathedral organist Andreas Liebig present their new CD "Nostalgia", recorded in the Basel Cathedral. Antonín Dvořák's "Biblical Songs" intertwined with the chorale preludes by Johannes Brahms.
Dvořák's "Biblical Songs" op. 99 intertwined with the Chorale Preludes op. posth. 122 by Johannes Brahms, his last compositions ever, sum up the compositional art of the two masters, who are friends with each other; they are farewell works, filled with deep longing and homesickness. Interwoven texts by Brahms, Dvořák and Clara Schumann also illuminate the spiritual and emotional background of these chamber music gems of the High Romantic period in completely new and touching facets.
