Hans Peter Danuser was the director of tourism in St. Moritz from 1978 to 2008 and is considered a formative figure in Swiss tourism. As early as 1985, he registered and protected the place name St. Moritz as a trademark – a step that earned him an article in the Wall Street Journal. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in using the story of Heidi, the famous Swiss children's book character, for tourism marketing and positioning Graubünden as a Heidi region. (In 2027, the 200th birthday of Johanna Spyri, who wrote the Heidi novel, will be celebrated.)

Christian Jott Jenny is the bustling and unconventional mayor of St. Moritz, is considered the visionary founder of the "Festival da Jazz St. Moritz" and is a brilliant tenor on the road in Zurich and other stages. Jenny's art lies in the realization that the sublime lies by a hair's breadth next to the ridiculous and embarrassing.
