Gonzen Culture Award 2025

The event at Sargans Castle will be combined with a reading by the dialect bard Pedro Lenz. Since 1979, the Sargans bookstore has been located opposite the Castels cinema. It has always been led by proactive personalities. With the award of the Gonzen Culture Prize, the Cultural Commission of the Municipality of Sargans honors the great commitment to the promotion of the culture of reading and the preservation of the value of printed books in an increasingly digitized world. The Gonzen Culture Prize is awarded every two years to people or organizations that are good for Sargans.

The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. in the Knights' Hall of Sargans Castle. As part of the event, the writer and spoken word artist Pedro Lenz will give a reading. His dialect works reflect the lives and stories of the people in a sensitive and humorous way. His book "Der Goalie bin ig" was made into a film. Pedro Lenz has been showered with prizes for his work. And when the tall man with the distinctive voice reads on stage, it is a unique experience. Lenz will perform his stage play "Zärtlechi Zunge" in Sargans.

The municipality of Sargans cordially invites all interested parties to the award ceremony and Lenz reading to celebrate the importance of the Sargans bookstore for local culture. Afterwards, an aperitif will be offered.
