Literature at noon: "Mascha Kaléko"

Let yourself be seduced during your lunch break: Martina Kuoni presents a book, a personality or an incident from the literary world - stimulating, entertaining and informative. Classics and forgotten authors, bay rouvailles and special locations, rebellious writers and sensitive word artists – there is a lot to discover.

The first event in this year's "Literature at Noon" series is dedicated to the Jewish poet Mascha Kaléko (1907–1975). In 1938 she had to flee Germany. In New York, as later in Jerusalem, she missed her own language throughout her life and felt homeless. Kaléko's poetry has an unmistakable tone. Her poems combine melancholy, irony and political acuity.

Martina Kuoni, born and raised in Chur, is a German philologist and literary mediator. She offers literary walks in many Swiss cities, moderates author readings, gives lectures and leads reading circles. www.literaturspur.ch/
