With his debut album Kosmos Suite, Lukas DeRungs was nominated for the German Jazz Prize and was awarded the Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Prize. His new album Wake now focuses on his current quintet. The young British singer Immy Churchill sings the new songs, some of whose lyrics she wrote herself, with ease and strong expression. Alongside her, London guitarist Karim Saber enriches the album with his virtuosity and his own powerful sound. Dortmund-born bassist Jan Dittmann and drummer Jonas Esser, who now lives in New York, complete the band, which merges into a compact body of sound on stage.
