The ritual involves pouring water mixed with essential oils onto the hot stones of the Finnish sauna stove. The water evaporates and increases the humidity. Before the actual infusion, fresh air is left in the sauna as the door IS opened wide for a short time. After the water has been poured on, our sauna master swirls the steam around with a towel. The infusion and waving is usually repeated three times. Depending on the type of infusion and the essential oils that are added, this can help to stimulate your blood circulation.
