Segnespass - Guided hike

We take the shuttle bus from Laax to Nagens. After a short ascent, the wide view opens up into the southern part of the Sardona tectonic arena. The Lower Segnesboden, a floodplain and moorland landscape of national importance, presents itself in its summer colours. The tension rises until the view through the legendary Martinsloch, and the drops of sweat bead on the last ascent to the Segnespass. Up here we enjoy the panorama back towards the Bernina massif and forward over the Glarus Alps to the Swiss Plateau. After the long descent over flysch, over streams and runs, we treat ourselves to the descent in the Tschinglenbahn.
There is hardly any other place where the formation of our mountains can be better illustrated and experienced up close. The mountain formation (tectonics), the modelling of the mountains and valleys (geomorphology) and the diversity of the rocks give an overall picture. The vegetation cover with the characteristic plants is an expression of this geological peculiarity and the processes of soil formation.
