Tamina - Guided Hike

Description
Difficulty T2
Quietly and almost unnoticed, the Tamina flows through a pretty notch valley. From Vasön we explore the terrain and think about how this strange formation of the Tamina Valley came about. Traces in the landscape can reveal a lot about it. The steep descent from Ragol and the crossing of the natural bridge lead to the Old Bad Pfäfers, known for the spa cures since the end of the Middle Ages. There, the Tamina has carved a wild gorge and a gorge through the rock. A hot spring springs from it. The narrow Tamina Gorge with its thermal spring fascinates every visitor.
Before reaching the Schwattenfall stop, we climb up a narrow path to Pfäfers. From mid-May, the meadows are colourfully decorated with a magnificent flora. Near Pfäfers there are traces of the former Graubünden Glacier, which stretched out an arm over the Kunkels Pass and left behind rocks from the upper Surselva. This route was already known to the Romans. Past the Porta Romana and the ruins of Wartenstein Castle, the route leads through mixed deciduous forest down to Bad Ragaz and along beautiful tree-lined avenues towards the train station.
