In Zumthor's 60-minute composition "Books & Alcohol", the six very different musical characters seem to attract each other like magnets. The unusually cast ensemble becomes a personality, the music a statement of independent position. Driving beat rotations, at times wild melancholy, fine humour, black gong ballads, a primordial state, frenetic energy flows, bitter lamentations and Franz Schubert appear.
