Alp Sardona

From St. Martin, the trail leads along a natural road through the wild and romantic Calfeisen Valley to Alp Sardona. At the far end of the Calfeisen valley, the valley opens up to reveal a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and the main Glarus overthrust in the middle of the Sardona tectonic arena. For more than 500 years, farmers from Zizers in the Graubünden Rhine Valley have been grazing their cattle on Alp Sardona. Warm hospitality and a cosy dormitory in the former hay barn await you here. Out of respect for the alpine pastures and the alpine cattle, we return to St. Martin along the same route. Please always close the gates and pasture fences.
