The cottage is a SAC hut built in traditional style. The hut is located at 2'250 m diekt at the foot of the Piz Buin (3'312 m), in the middle of the Silvretta, where the three streams of the Jamjoch, the Vermuntpass and the Mittagsplatte flow together. On the menu is home-style traditional cuisine as well as Engadine specialties such as nut cake, salsiz, bacon and cheese.

The Chamonna Tuoi of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) will remain closed for safety reasons in the coming winter. Strong rock movements on the Piz Buin Pitschen in combination with snow represent a considerable potential danger for the SAC hut in Val Tuoi. For safety reasons, the municipality of Scuol has to close the hut in winter. Those responsible will decide on summer operations in April 2023, as additional studies will assess the various hazardous situations for the summer.
