STALLA D'IMMEZ – Stylish historic apartment in Santa Maria Val Müstair For more than four centuries, the Stalla d'Immez served as a cattle and horse stable, the annex as a servants' chamber, below which was the chicken coop. The central showpieces are the filigree attic and the mighty hay track dividing the room. In 2021, the writer couple Tim Krohn and Micha Friemel, who live in Santa Maria, carefully introduced them to today's living expectations in cooperation with the Graubünden Monument Preservation Office. A small garden with kitchen herbs, flowers and berries is available to guests, as well as a parking space in the courtyard. SANTA MARIA: The small mountain village (1375 m above sea level) has a historic nucleus of almost untouched beauty and is home to several cultural figures of national and international renown. In addition, it houses the legendary Tessanda hand-held workshop, a museum about the exciting history of the valley during the First World War, a whisky distillery, an antique carpenter's workshop, two riding stables, various offers for body and mind such as Ayurvedic treatments, shiatsu, yoga, Zen archery, a vita course and numerous walking paths. The smallest hospital in Switzerland is located in Santa Maria, as is the smallest bar in the world. In summer, the Kunstverein Art Val Müstair shows a highly acclaimed and freely accessible exhibition of contemporary art. Santa Maria is also home to Chasa Parli, a retreat for writers and those seeking peace and quiet, which offers writing workshops on request. On the outskirts of the village there is an adventure playground with barbecue facilities in the great outdoors. Santa Maria itself, like most mountain villages, is built along the main road (the speed limit is 30 km/h), but the Stalla d'Immez is located off the road with a view of the mountain massifs of Piz Lad and Piz Terza. The Val Müstair is an ecologically valuable biosphere reserve on the edge of the Swiss National Park at the easternmost point of Switzerland. It is located on the southern side of the Alps. There is a wide range of recreational activities, with a focus on hiking, snowshoeing, biking and skiing (alpine and nordic). Agriculture is predominantly organic. The valley is also dominated by the monastery of San Jon in Müstair, which was founded around 800 by Charlemagne. It also adorns the coat of arms of the municipality of Val Müstair.
