Description
Snowfarming is part of snow management. In Davos, since 2008, a snow pile has been covered with sawdust every spring. This snow is used in the fall to prepare a cross-country skiing track before new snow can be produced. By covering it, about 70-80% of the snow volume is preserved. This allows for an early season start regardless of the fall temperatures. The 4 km long snowfarming track opens on the last weekend of October.
