Alpine mountain hike over the Brunnigrat and the Brunnig glacier to the Cavardirashütte
Details
Description
Day 1: From Caischavedra, the route takes us through a small raised bog and through alpine rose bushes to lag Serein, a clear and blue eye in the middle of green alpine pastures. From here we change to a blue and white marked alpine hiking trail. The landscape becomes more rocky and the last few meters to the Brunni Pass require all our strength and concentration. We even have to be free of vertigo when we hang on ropes on the other side and descend over airy ladders to the glacier. We are happy about our pimple, with which we attach a kick on the aperen glacier from time to time. The markings of the hut keeper lead us otherwise safely over the mostly frozen glacier to the Cavardiras hut.
Day 2: We continue our hike and descend eastwards into Val Cavardiras. The valley is still in the mountains, it is rocky and barren in the first part, but soon has green spots and alpine pastures. At the transition from the Val Cavardiras to the Val Russein we reach a wide natural road. Below the Barcuns reservoir, we must not miss the junction to Cumpadials and Sumvitg. So we reach the village and the train station after about 40 minutes. The train takes us back to Disentis.

Directions
From the panoramic restaurant in Caischavedra we follow the shortest route towards Lag Serein. Here we branch off at the alpine hut on the blue and white marked alpine hiking trail in the direction of Brunnipass. Over the Brunni Pass we cross the narrow ridge and descend to Brunnifirn. Now we follow the markings of the hut keeper over the firnten glacier to the hut. On marked hiking trails we continue through the Val Cavardiras towards Val Russein where we cover a longer stretch of path on a dirt road. Below Barcuns we turn left onto the trail to Cumpadials and Sumvitg. The Rhaetian Railway station is located between the villages of Cumpadials and Sumvitg. The train runs hourly in both directions
