Description

The entire Haute Route Graubünden passes four huts and takes five days to complete. You have experience of ski touring and deep snow and can master steeper passages on the ascent and descent. You have mastered the hairpin bend and are physically fit enough for a four-hour ascent and up to 1200 m. Then nothing stands in the way of this ski crossing! You should allow 5-7 hours for the 14 kilometers.

You start from the Kesch hut with a short descent through the Val Funtauna. From Alp Funtauna, you then climb north to the Scalettapass. Continue over the moraine slope to the east and over the glacier up to the ridge crest. Bypass the rocky terrain by crossing the east side of the ridge to reach the Scalettahorn from the southeast. For the descent, stay south/south-east of the ridge, enjoy wide, regular slopes and then traverse north-west at the end of the ridge, from where you can already see the hut.
