Description

After a pleasant trip up the mountain pass aboard the Rhaetian Railway on the UNESCO World Heritage railway pioneering route to Preda, this circular snowshoe hike leads from the train station and along the old muleteer route and over the Crestas da Palpuogna ridge to the Lai da Palpuogna. This idyllically situated lake was chosen in a survey as the "most beautiful spot in Switzerland". In the winter it is mostly covered by snow, but when the weather is cold enough and the precipitation is low, the lake freezes to black ice and one can even go skating on it.

The return route follows the pass road, which is closed during the winter, and then takes you along the hiking trail through the Lavizun forest to the Preda train station. Enjoy a hot drink at the Hotel Preda Kulm.
