Alpe Campaccio -Lago del Monte - Laghi della Forcola - Alpe Campaccio

The Lago del Monte is located at the homonymous valley, side of the Livigno Valley in the upper Valtellina.On the north-eastern shore, in a slightly elevated position, a bivouac has been built with the contribution of the volunteers of the Moto Club Trèla Pass of Livigno who every year on the last Sunday of July organize a party there.

Route description: We take the dirt road closed to traffic, the trail signs indicate with the route 191, Tröi de li Téa at 0.20 am, Lach dal Mónt at 2.20 am, Val dal Mónt, we walk almost flat, shortly after we reach the low casera of Alpe Campaccio (where you can buy cheeses and other products of the pasture), we continue now slightly uphill we reach a bridge with which we cross the stream that descends from the Valle del Monte (1960 mt), immediately after there is a junction where the trail signs indicate straight with path 151, Val dal Mónt, Cheséira dal Mónt at 0.50 am, Lach dal Mónt at 2.10 am, on the right with path 191, Téa da li Sc'teblína at 0.05 am, Tröi de li Téa at 0.15 am, Livìgn, we continue straight uphill, the road is now paved, we reach a large house where the asphalt ends and we continue slightly uphill to the left on dirt road (1970 meters), after a hairpin bend to the right we continue to climb (1985 meters). we pass two other hairpin bends that can be cut with a shortcut, we pass next to a toll booth of the aqueduct (2025 meters), we walk with little slope but, immediately after the next hairpin bend, we continue to climb, we leave on the left a steep path that detaches and returns after two hairpin bends, then we follow another hairpin bend that can be cut with a path (2060 meters) we continue with less slope, beyond which there is a junction (2080 mt), here the signs indicate on the left with route 151 the shortest low variant, Val dal Mónt, Lach dal Mónt at 1.50 am, La Cólma at 3.10 am, on the right with route 152 the longest high variant, Cheséira from Mónt at 0.30 am, Val dal Mónt, Lach from the Mónt at 2.10 am, I choose the shorter variant and therefore we go to the left, after a few steps we take a curve to the right and continue with very little slope surrounded by stone pines, finished the trees, we continue almost flat with rocks to the right while on the other side down below flows the emissary stream of Lake del Monte, now we walk along a hairpin bend left wading a stream (2100 meters) we continue alternating stretches almost flat to others slightly uphill passing various streams that cross the path and go to throw themselves into the dirt stream, we find a toll booth of the aqueduct (2155 meters), we reach a pole with various signs that indicate in front, Lach dal Mónt at 1.25 am, La Cólma at 2.40 am, on the right with route 152, Cheséira from Mónt at 0.15 am, Cheséira from Campác at 1 am, behind: Cheséira from Campác at 0.40 am, meanwhile we have arrived at the level of the stream and walking slightly uphill we reach the bridge where we find the high variant that descends from the right between the meadows (2165 meters), beyond the bridge we turn right and continue to climb with a wide path between grass and bushes, now the slope increases, we climb quite steeply towards a gorge in which the stream flows (2245 meters), the path now turns left initially uphill and then quite steeply (2310 meters), now to the right the slope is steep and the path in some places is wet, we return to climb and wade a stream that descends from the left, we continue to climb, now the path is divided into two tracks that approach and move away several times, we always follow the one to the right, easier and marked by stamps, after a hairpin bend to the left we walk almost flat (2390 meters) and then slightly uphill, you pass other hairpin bends, now the two tracks cross another time (2415 meters), but now I notice that the one on the right with the stamps rises directly and steeply while the one on the left in a sweeter way and with various hairpin bends, we therefore opt for the latter and we resume climbing initially with little slope and then with various zig-zags while the path is divided into several intersecting tracks, you can see that between the path we are going up and the other that we had left there is a groove in the center of which stands a bump on the top of which a cross has been placed, we always continue zig-zag and with a slightly accentuated slope bypassing the bump from the left (2570 meters), a little further on the meadows end, now we walk between stones and smashes, with a few steps we go down and go up twice to overcome two small valleys in the second of which flows the emissary stream of the lake, immediately after the path joins the other that had bypassed the bump from the right, now in front of us there is the lake and on the opposite bank we see the bivouac, on a pole some signs indicate, Lach dal Mónt (2606 mt), to the right Baitèl dal Mónt at 0.05 am, to the left La Cólma at 1.20 am, Sómp i Crap Néir at 1.40 am, Baitèl from the Gras of Agnégl at 2 am. now the climb, marked by little men and red-white-red trail markers, develops with some hairpin bends on the non-steep side of the moraine, up to the thresholds of a nozzle manned by a small snowfield, beyond the snowfield, we find some large little men, very useful when it comes to descending, we arrive at the plateau of altitude (2690 meters) the path continues taking to the right and resuming to climb, close to a slope that descends quite steeply to a wide basin of pastures, some passage a little exposed requires attention, especially for the soil that is always an underestimated pitfall, after a short crossing, here we are at a grassy shelf, the quoted saddle (2714 meters) (Dòs de la Breva), where we find two hiking signs, the path 105, in the direction from which we come, it leads in 30 minutes to Lake Monte and in 2 hours to Alpe Campaccio, while continuing on the path we are following that proceeds straight for a short stretch, towards the south-west, then bends to the left and begins to descend in a southerly direction ringing a long series of hairpin bends on the edge of a bump, then bends slightly to the right and overcomes two valleys, leading to the Italian-Swiss border, we still lose altitude zigzagging and passing through the border stone n. 6, then the path goes a little to the left and continues to descend on the Italian side, always in a southerly direction, until we reach, the Colma (2465 meters), at the entrance of the Swiss Valle del Fieno, now we proceed in the direction of the Forcola lakes, this piece of route is round trip until you return to the Hay Pass, now with the path No. 103 that takes to the right and continues in the descent crossing east-southeast, we follow it until we reach the valley floor at the Baitèl del Gras degli Agnelli, (2099 mt) near the state road to the Forcola pass, at the P9 car park, at this point along the dirt road that flanks the state road we return to Alpe Campaccio.
