Description
We are in Ticino, in Olivone and the mighty Sosto towers above us, which we are circumnavigating today!
The climb of 600 meters to Alp Carnaira should be tackled early while the forest is still mostly in the shade. A mountain path then leads to Alpe Compietto, a flat alp with well-kept stone houses, green meadows and a lively stream. After half an hour we reach the highest point of the tour, the Passo Muazz. We leave the Sosto on the left and walk along a road to Lake Luzzone, through a 600 meter long, illuminated tunnel. From the top of the dam we watch climbers struggling on this vertical and we are very happy with Schuster's rapping.
The descent now follows into the valley, past picturesque houses and landscapes. The hiking trail takes us past Campo Blenio on the left. Before the car tunnel we reach the former access road to Olivone, which is partly carved into the rock high above the wild waters of the Brenno della Greina. It is cool here and drips keep falling from the steep rocks onto our heads.
But soon the warming sun welcomes us again and Olivone is not far away. The old road ends just before the village.
Geheimtipp
The view from ristorante Luzzone is unique.
Sicherheitshinweis
The tunnel to the reservoir is illuminated. In June there may still be snow on the side of the reservoir.
Directions
From the church in Olivone we follow the hiking trail towards Capanna Adula. At the Passo Muazz we keep left. We now hike on the road and later through a tunnel. After a few more bends on the road we cross the dam of Lago Luzzone. Afterwards there is a signposted hiking trail to Campo Blenio and Olivone.
