Seltener Hochnebel im Talboden der Surselva beim Gipfelhang der Cauma

Almost everything on the north side, almost everything powder-good. That's how you could describe this ski tour to the offshore Cauma. The last section to the Dutjerhorn is more of an alpine tour, which is only done in very safe conditions.

Description

This ski tour starts behind the last houses of Ober Dutjen. It goes steadily uphill through sparse forests, alpine meadows and forest clearings. Sometimes steeper, sometimes more leisurely. In midwinter, the ascent to the Dutjer Alp is almost or completely in the shade. At the alp, in addition to the sunshine, there is also a really beautiful panorama over the wide mountains down to the Alpine town of Chur. We continue on the back of the Cauma. In unsafe conditions, an ascent of the steep northern slope is not recommended. The tour can be ended well on the Cauma – which is what most people do. If you prefer alpine skiing and if the conditions are very safe, you can now take the Dutjerhorn with you. Often the skis have to be partially carried. The Dutjerhorn is the first peak of the Signina chain, which can be seen from afar. A truly magnificent backdrop awaits you on both peaks.

The descent is always via the ascent route. Thanks to its northern exposure, this tour is an insider tip for powder descents.

Geheimtipp

In very, very safe conditions, you can also ski down the northern slope of the Dutjerhorn. Good skiing technique is a prerequisite here.

If you are lucky in the snow (and have a lot of fitness), you can take the tour from Valendas village or even from the Valendas/Sagogn train station.

Sicherheitshinweis

Ski and snowshoe tours in unsecured terrain require good knowledge of avalanche danger assessment and tour planning. Furthermore, a complete safety upgrade must always be carried - regardless of the current avalanche danger.

We recommend the WhiteRisk app and website to prepare and plan the tour.

For carefree enjoyment, we recommend our mountain guides and snowshoe hiking guides of the Surselva.
