Circular hike along the Walser Trail in Obersaxen

Along the Obersaxen Walser Trail, you can hike through a piece of cultural history and experience nature up close. Some of the more than 20 information boards accompany you on the nature trail from Giraniga up to the Sassli fireplace. Continue on the 44.5 m long suspension bridge over the Schlettertobel ravine. Crossing the ravine, around 16 m above the stream bed, is a small test of courage for some! After a short ascent, the unique “panoramic view” awaits you at the Plàmpoort fireplace (1676 m above sea level), which invites you to linger and relax. The descent to Miraniga is a walk with views of the various valleys of the Surselva down to Chur and in the opposite direction to Disentis. The nature trail reflects the direct interaction between man, nature and landscape with a variety of topics such as animals, plants, mushrooms, medicinal herbs, flowers, geology and, of course, the life of the Walser people past and present.

The two fireplaces Sassli and Plàmpoort are equipped with firewood and toilets. There are also tables and benches for picnics.

The “glass” panoramic point at Plàmpoort offers one of the best viewpoints in Obersaxen at this altitude.

In cooperation with “Best of Wandern”, you can hire hiking equipment free of charge from the information office in Meierhof.
