Curaglia - Platta
A sunny winter hike between two villages in Val Medel.
Details
Description
We discover the landscape in Val Medel on a leisurely hike, away from the Lukmanier pass road. First we hike a short distance to Plaun da Punt, on the Rein da Medel. An old stone bridge crosses the stream here, an impressive structure from the time of the traders and muleteers. We take a look at the stream bed deep below us and then walk back along the same path. Then, with the midday sun on our faces, we follow the prepared path into the valley to Platta. In between, we have to switch briefly to the main road, but from the Baselgia section we enjoy the crunching snow under our boots once again.
We enquired beforehand whether the restaurant of the Hotel Della Posta is open, so that we can stop for a coffee in the warm restaurant before the Postbus takes us back to Curaglia. http://hotel-dalla-posta-platta.swissalpshotels.net
Geheimtipp
Sicherheitshinweis
You can also walk back to Curaglia on the main road. Attention, moderate car traffic!
Directions
From Curaglia we follow a part of the road that leads to Mutschnengia. At Fadretschzweig we turn left onto a winter hiking trail that leads us to the bridge. After we have hiked back a bit, we branch off in front of the first houses of Curaglia on the groomed winter hiking trail to Platta. This runs parallel to the pass road, before Baselgia we follow the pass road for about 100 meters, but shortly afterwards turn right again to Baselgia. Another hiking trail leads to Platta.
