Description

The route starts from the Tourist Information and Sports Centre in Davos Platz along the Landwasser valley to Glaris. Just after the 3-km Landwasser Tunnel, there is a short climb to Wiesen and the route continues via Schmitten to reach the lowest point at Alvaneu Bad. The ascent to the Albula Pass starts here, passing the lovely mountain villages of Filisur and Bergün. The Albula section of the Rhaetian Railway with its unique architectural edifices, designated by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site, crosses the route several times before Preda, before you come to the pass at an altitude of 2,312 metres a.s.l. After a short descent to La Punt, the road follows the Inn via Zernez to Susch in the Lower Engadine. This is where the ascent starts to the Flüela Pass with its steep climbs and tight hairpin bands, covering just under 1,000 vertical metres over 13 kilometres, followed by a thrilling descent from the pass down through the Flüela valley back to the starting point in Davos.
