Description

This stage involves the most metres of descent. The tour starts in Fatschél and leads across pastureland to Pagig. After Pagig, the trail leads past a "Swiss Family" barbecue site, which also has a playground. The trail continues through the Clasaur ravine across lush meadows to Castiel. Castiel was settled surprisingly early. On the Carschlingg hilltop above the church, there is evidence of various prehistoric settlement phases and Roman settlements. You hike up to Calfreisen via the Castiel bridge. This section takes you past the ruins of Bernegg Castle, the landmark of Calfreisen. The small, tranquil village of Calfreisen also has a beautiful village centre. There are numerous old wooden houses, built close together and carefully maintained and renovated. The route continues to Maladers and from there to Chur along the old Arosa road with historic walls along the way.

Geheimtipp

The Bernegg castle ruins in Calfreisen are the town's landmark. A visit to the medieval hilltop castle will take you on a journey through time and you are sure to discover a few hidden treasures. For food and drink: the Pasunna restaurant in Castiel and the Gassa-Beizli in Calfreisen. The farm shops sell high-quality local produce.
