E - Tourenbike: Disentis - Maighelshütte - Disentis

Up to Mompé Tujetsch we cycle on side roads and tracks. If, despite the electric assistance, we needed more power than expected, we can recover a little on the descent down to the Rhine. We pedal past the pretty huts of Mises Las Cavorgia back uphill to Cavorgia, a small village that is still inhabited all year round. The most beautiful place to take a break is definitely the area around the chapel.

We continue on the right side of the Rhine, (flow direction) passing Lag da Claus and later the Vorderrhein power station to Selva. Here we change to the main road, which we can leave again in Surpalits, at the level of Ziegenalp Milez to Maighels.

In wide hairpin bends, the path winds its way up to Lai Urlaun, sometimes steeper, sometimes somewhat flatter. We even manage the last steep "Stutz" to the hut with the bike without any problems.

For the return journey we choose the main road to Disentis.

The Maighelshütte has an extensive food and drink menu. Beer on tap or rather cappuccino with fruit cake?!

From Disentis train station we follow the signs to Segnas and Mompé Tujetsch. Here we turn left down to the main road. After the bridge, we continue straight down the valley to the Rhine. On the other side we turn right to Cavorgia and Sedrun. At Lag da Claus, below Surrein, we stay to the left of the Rhine, drive up to Surrein and on to the Vorderrhein power plant. Continue straight ahead and just before the playground on the stopped road. This leads up to the junction on the wide hiking trail to Selva. From Selva change to the cantonal road and follow it to the junction to Alp Milez. At the alpine hut we leave the asphalt again and change right onto the natural road to the Maighelshütte.

The return journey leads from the Maighelshütte to the cantonal road on the same path. From here we stay on the cantonal road to Bugnei, where we change to a wide hiking trail.
