Details
Description
Casper Nicca takes you on his hike along the meadows and pastures of the upper Schamserberg, where he meets different people. At selected locations, you can listen to the exciting audio stories via your smartphone.
The Schamserberg with its near-natural cultural landscape characterized by centuries of cultivation is a habitat for a variety of animal and plant species. Dry meadows and pastures are among the most species-rich habitats in the cultural landscape. The hike takes you along the magnificent variety of meadows and pastures on the upper Schamserberg, to the observation bench.
At the start in Mathon is the exhibition «mia natira». It forms the heart of the project "Meadows and Pastures on the Schamserberg". The trailer, which has been converted into an interactive exhibition, is open daily. Here you will find the overview map of the upper Schamserberg, which shows selected located meadows and pastures and typical plant and animal species.

Directions
The start of the hike is in Mathon. After the ascent to the Meinsäss Mursenas, it goes about 2.5 km at an altitude through dry meadows and pastures. At Faschas, the hiking trail crosses the Valtschiel mountain stream and leads past a flat moor. From here it goes down over pastures, some of which are overgrown with alders, to the Dumagns mountain pasture. The further descent takes place over grazed tresperas down to Wergenstein. The route leads through forest and larch forest pastures back to Mathon.Note: A detour to the mountain village of Wergenstein is definitely worthwhile. Here you have the opportunity to stop for a bite to eat, visit the ibex exhibition and return to Mathon by PostBus.
