Description
From the train station in Ilanz, the first town on the young Rhine, the bike route leads across the meadows and fields above Castrisch. Easy gravel roads and short, flowing single trails lead you towards the Rhine. Pass under the railroad line and continue along a short section of hiking trail along the Rhine to Isla Sut (nature reserve) at the entrance to the Rhine Gorge. There is a barbecue site and an amazingly large sandy beach right by the water. Enjoy a picnic on the peninsula on the banks of the Rhine. Strengthened, the route continues uphill to Castrisch. The historic village center with its typical fountain is under heritage protection and well worth a stop. A protected bat colony lives in the attic of the church.
Rolling out on country lanes and a short section of easy singletrack at the very end round off this tour perfectly.
Geheimtipp
It is tempting to ride further trail sections on the hiking trail along the Rhine Gorge. However, due to the high frequency of hikers, we only recommend riding before 9 am and after 4 pm.
This route used to be signposted with the number 258.
Sicherheitshinweis
