Description

The start and finish are at the ARENA Klosters with a magnificent view of the Silvretta glacier and the surrounding mountain ranges. After a short warm-up run along the Landquart river, the route continues in constant ups and downs on a forest path towards Monbiel. Then the first longer ascent begins on field paths to the Alpenrösli mountain inn. This is followed by a technically demanding descent into Schlappintal, especially in wet conditions. After a short part on asphalt, you change to the other side of the valley and quickly gain height on a steep trail. Above the tree line you can enjoy the panorama of the surrounding mountains for the first time.

More or less maintaining the altitude, you walk along the Prättigauer Höhenweg to the Saaser Alp from where you tackle the strenuous climb to the Jägglisch Horn. On the Jägglisch Horn you should pause briefly and enjoy the extensive view before setting off on the rapid descent to the Aschariner Alp. A steep ascent to Eggberg is followed by an equally steep descent to beautiful Gafia. On the outskirts of St. Antönien, the route turns into Alpelltitäli, where the longest and most strenuous climb to the St. Antönier Joch begins. From there, a demanding path leads along the ridge to the Gafier Joch. You only leave it for a short detour to Lake Gafier, which is so picturesquely situated that one or the other will surely want to take a longer break. But there is still a long way to go. From the Gafier Joch, a technical descent leads to the Gafier Platten, which look as if they were a glacier. You follow them to the Rätschenjoch and then you enter a huge karst area. The path is now very demanding, because there is a lot of loose debris on the rutted limestone rocks. But soon it is done and you reach the highest point, the Rätschenhorn. With its view, it is truly the highlight of the route!

From here on it's all downhill, but the path over the Saaser Calanda to Saaser Alp, is very technical and demands everything from you. The last part of the descent back to Klosters also demands a lot from the braking muscles. From Klosters village, a flat path leads across the open meadows below Klosters to the ARENA Klosters, where the wonderful tour ends.
