Description

The Maloja Express route starts on the Maloja Pass looking back on the Engadin lakes and then swings its way through the airy heights via the tight turns on the pass road and down into the Bergell, the Val Bregaglia, the valley of the artist family Giacometti. The route takes you past each of the Bergell villages, and partly through ancient chestnut forests and on to the national border at Castasegna. Flat sections alternate with steep and challenging ascents and descents. The difficulties are amply compensated for by all the altitude metres you drop, and which make this tour a real treat!Along the way you will encounter old villages with their many historical sites such as castle ruins, churches or Italianate palazzi. The restaurants in the valley serve tasty local specialities.
