Show all 6 images
Cycle uphill from Andeer into Val Ferrera to Cröt and on through the pristine high valley of Avers to Juf, the highest settlement in Europe that is inhabited all year round
Details
Description
The tour starts in the historic spa town of Andeer and leads via Bärenburg to the Rofflaschlucht gorge. At the Rofflaschlucht inn, take the next bend onto the Averserstrasse into Val Ferrera, past Ausser- and Innerferrera, and continue along the Averser Rhine into the Avers high valley.
The route to Juf is steadily uphill and leads past small settlements. Juf, in the middle of the alpine mountain landscape, lies at an altitude of 2,126 m above sea level and is the starting point for numerous hikes.
There are several places to stop for refreshments along the entire route and in Juf itself. Once you arrive in Juf, simply enjoy the tranquillity of the barren high valley before setting off on the relaxed descent back to Andeer.
Juf is the end point of the Avers cantonal road and can be reached by public transport(Andeer-Juf post bus line).
Every year in August, the traditional mountain bike race for everyone takes place from Andeer to Juf.
